Mission

Tamaya Learning Center
The Tamaya Learning Center provides a safe and nurturing learning environment to support all Santa Ana children ages 3 months to five years regardless of ability or need. Developmental Screenings and access to support services for children with special needs are available, as are many activities including Keres Language Classes daily with daily classroom, swimming, tumbling and library activities. Experienced and dedicated teachers utilize a research based early childhood curriculum for instruction.
Student Services
The Department of Education monitors Santa Ana students who reside on the Santa Ana reservation and attend Bernalillo Public Schools, students who commute to out of district schools daily, and those who attend and dorm at SFIS.
Home School Liaison Services
The Home School Liaison Program advocates for students and maintains communication between the school and home for students attending public, private, and charter schools.
Scholarship Funding
Higher Education Scholarship:
The Pueblo of Santa Ana offers a Higher Education Scholarship for tribal members that want to pursue a college degree, vocational certificate, or other educational certificates. The goal of the Higher Education Scholarship Program is to promote and encourage the pursuit of higher education by providing scholarships to eligible Pueblo of Santa Ana members.
The Career Pathways Coordinator at the Department of Education processes all higher education applications and presents the scholarships to the Santa Ana Education Board (SAEB). The SAEB is authorized by the Pueblo of Santa Ana Tribal Council to make all decisions regarding the application for scholarships.
Youth Scholarship:
The tribe funds youth K-12 to attend leadership programs, summer college prep programs, summer enrichment classes and other education conferences/workshops. Student must apply for this scholarship through the Department of Education.
After School Program
Academics
Santa Ana Department of Education After School youth receive academic support from academic tutors and staff to complete homework and reinforce classroom learning.
Santa Ana Pueblo Community Library
The Santa Ana Pueblo Community Library is situated within the Education Department building and consists of the general library, a children’s area, and outdoor space. The library holds materials and provides services and programs to serve the residents of Santa Ana Pueblo and surrounding communities. Our space serves as a learning and activities center for the community, a meeting place, and a gateway to information. The library contains just under 10,000 books and periodicals, DVDs, board games, video games and other equipment on various subjects and interests to meet our patrons personal, educational, and cultural needs.
Arts
After School Program youth develop their creative minds and bodies in various arts and culture programs. Some of the art activities given are creative writing, visual art, computer art, and various crafts.
Recreation Activities
At Afterschool, youth participate in a range of physical fitness activities. Youth are encouraged to develop their abilities in various team sports and learn new skills many of which are through teamwork challenges. After School Program offers a balance of games, team challenges and recreational fitness opportunities.
Summer Program
Santa Ana Department of Education Summer Program encompasses much of the same outlined program like the After School Program, In addition Tamaya language and culture are incorporated into the program. The Summer Program also takes various field trips through-out the summer.

Position Summary:
The high school intern will assist the Community Health Worker (CHW) / Community Health Representative (CHR) program team with a variety of health-related activities aimed at promoting wellness and health education within the tribal community. The intern will gain valuable experience in health promotion, community outreach, and public health program management, while working alongside CHWs and CHRs to support the health needs of tribal members.
This internship provides a meaningful opportunity for a high school student to gain experience in community health, outreach, and public health education while making a positive impact on the health and well-being of the tribal community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist CHWs and CHRs in conducting outreach and educational activities for tribal members related to health and wellness topics (e.g., nutrition, exercise, disease prevention).
- Support the planning and organization of health fairs, screenings, and community events.
- Help prepare and distribute health materials, flyers, and resources to community members.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of community health activities, including data entry and reporting.
- Observe and assist in one-on-one or group health education sessions with tribal members.

The high school intern will assist the Senior Center Manager with a variety of programmatic functions, supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of activities and services for senior citizens. This internship will provide exposure to the day-to-day operations of a senior center, including administrative tasks, event coordination, and direct interaction with senior participants. The intern will gain valuable experience in social services, event management, and community engagement.
This internship offers a great opportunity to learn about senior services and gain hands-on experience in event planning, customer service, and community engagement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist the Senior Center Manager in organizing and promoting programs and events for senior citizens.

Position Summary:
The DNR Intern is responsible for assisting with the implementation of all aspects of assigned projects within the Pueblo of Santa Ana Department of Natural Resource (SADNR). This includes projects under the following Divisions: Range and Wildlife, Restoration, Conservation, Water Resources, Environmental, and GIS/Information Technology.
Job Duties:
- Builds and maintains knowledge by conducting library and/or internet research, attends trainings, workshops, meetings, and conferences.
- Document all activities in a daily logbook and/or field book.
- Assists with education and outreach to the Pueblo of Santa Ana community.
- Provides support to Department of Natural Resources staff as needed.

- Works with Tribal Administration, SADNR staff, consultants, and interdisciplinary teams from outside agencies as needed.

Position Summary:
The Tamaya Indian Reservation is located in North-Central New Mexico, along the Rio Grande. The reservation encompasses approximately 147,000 acres of land in the county of Sandoval. The southern border of the reservation is the town of Bernalillo. Tamaya is made up of three villages: Rebahene, Ranchitos and Chicale. More than 900 tribal members call the Pueblo of Tamaya home. Many tribal members are bilingual and proudly speak the Keresan language, the original language of the people of Tamaya. Santa Ana Pueblo is pleased to offer this Summer 2022 Internship program to interested youth between the ages of 16-21 who are part of the Santa Ana community.
The Youth Information Technology Intern will be part of the Information Technologies Department team.
This internship is ideal for someone who is interested in learning about the various functions performed in an IT department. The intern should be invested in learning about supporting information technology needs of clients. This intern should be able to work with both employees and residents, have good customer service skills, and work well with individuals and teams.

Emergency Management

Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Office of Emergency Management Director – Emergency Manager, the Emergency Management Technician INTERN provides support for all emergency management and preparedness activities for the Pueblo of Santa Ana Office.
This INTERN position exists to promote and encourage students to pursue Emergency Management/Public safety as a career by providing hands-on industry experience related to their field of study. It helps identify students with the skills and interests that align with the Office of
Emergency Managements (OEM) scope of work, creating potential future candidates for employment. Additionally, the position allows interns to gain practical knowledge while contributing to essential OEM’s tasks, supporting the OEM’s mission and operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support disaster response and crisis management activities (both in and outside of the Pueblo of Santa Ana and surrounding areas) and assist the Emergency Operations Center with response activities.
- Assists in developing, coordinating and analyzing programs, policies, procedures, guidelines, and objectives for emergency management.
- Ensures supplies, OEM communication requirements and support are deployed and operational when the PSA EOC is activated in response to any exercises or a real event.
- Assists all departments, business enterprise partners and stakeholders of the Pueblo in updating annually, the FEMA Community Lifelines annexes to the Emergency Operations Plan.
- Support coordination with Jurisdictional partners (municipalities, county departments and similar entities) to facilitate plan development, response effort coordination and exchanges of personnel and equipment.
- Maintains data and related documentation pertaining to emergency response activities and prepares periodic reports using software tools, i.e., excel, word, outlook, when required.
- Participate in local, state, tribal and federal emergency management training, workshops, conferences to learn about best practices and assist with improvement of surrounding County’s Emergency Preparedness Plans.
- Maintain awareness of activities and/or events that could affect the likelihood of an emergency, as well as those that could affect response efforts and details of plan implementation.
- Ensure all Emergency Management vehicles and equipment receive regular preventive maintenance and service checks to ensure operational readiness and reliability.

- Successful completion of FEMA Emergency Management Academy and/or ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 300, ICS 400, ICS 700, ICS 800 and 2300courses – Required or obtain within a year of hiring.

Position Summary:
The high school intern will assist the Education Department staff in facilitating summer programming for our K-12 students. Interns will be expected to actively engage in activities and project-based learning with the students. Interns are responsible for transporting students between the wellness center and education buildings, leading hands-on fun activities, chaperoning field trips and assisting the education staff in preparation for the next academic year. Interns should expect to learn administrative assistant roles and assist across all programs under the Education Department.
Job Duties:
- Assist the tutors and staff in facilitating project-based learning activities
- Assist staff in facilitating experiential learning activities, STEM activities and all related activities
- Gather specific materials for student engagement and activities

Position Summary:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists with various Sports and Events programming tasks, including assisting in activities and outreach to community.
- Maintain program policies and procedures to ensure safety standards.
- Assist Sports and Events Coordinator with program duties.
- Assist with staffing in the TWC Gymnasium, baseball fields, concession stand, and parks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in High school or GED program. Must be able to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard certification. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable under the Pueblo’s insurance.

SUPERVISOR: Outside Services Supervisor/Head Golf Professional
Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Outside Services Supervisor, and/or Head Golf Professional, provides all aspects of customer service to guests. Ensure proper operations and procedures are performed on golf carts, practice ranges, guest services, and the bag drop area. Stays in close communication with the Pro Shop staff to ensure the best possible experience for guests.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greet guests and answer questions in a polite and friendly manner. Offer to load/unload golf equipment from vehicle, and load/unload golf cart. Provide direction to golf related areas. When time permits, clean golf clubs at beginning and end of play. Anticipate and address guest service needs and assist individuals with disabilities. Thank guests with genuine appreciation. Communicate using clear and professional language.
- Become familiar with all aspects of golf cart operations, safety measures and activation/determination of GPS. Check receipts for cart rentals. Obtain necessary information and complete required forms. Clean detail and restock golf carts after use. Document any golf cart damage or deficiency for mechanics to review.
- Become familiar with Santa Ana or Twin Warriors rental policies, including checking club sets, and reporting any irregularities or missing items to the Pro Shop.
- Utilize radio and headset to communicate with Starters, Marshals and Pro Shop staff in various golf situations.
- Raise and lower SAGC flags when requested.
- Apply knowledge of SAGC procedures regarding outside food and beverage consumption and employee golf benefits.
- Assist other OSS personnel as needed including staging carts, setting up for shotgun starts and conclusion, and securing carts in the cart barn after usage.
- Assist the Tournament Coordinator and Pro Shop staff as needed including leading groups to their starting holes for events, placing and retrieving proximity markers, sponsor signs and other items upon completion of tournament events, and maintaining cleanliness of golf-related areas.
- Retrieve driving range balls and set up practice areas for guests.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and report accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions immediately to supervisor. Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional. Read and follow the Employee Policies and Procedures handbook. Notify supervisor of any issues as necessary.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, and support SAGC to reach common goals.
- Essential functions of this position include attendance and punctuality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager. On occasion, will be under direct supervision of the Director of Golf/General Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 16 years of age. Previous experience in golf course operations preferred but not required.
- Must possess valid driver’s license upon date of hire and maintain validity throughout employment at SAGC.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:
- Golf course, golf cart operations, and golf etiquette preferred, but not required.
- Communicate proficiently with all employees and guests using clear and professional language.
