Health and Human Services Department Mission Statement

The mission of the Pueblo of Santa Ana Department of Health and Human Services is to provide culturally competent and comprehensive services for the welfare, care, support and protection, to the child, the adult, the elder, the family, the Pueblo of Santa Ana, and the community as a whole, in collaboration with other community service providers.

What we offer

The Pueblo of Santa Ana’s Health and Human Services Department’s goals and objectives are to promote and provide quality services through the various department programs that include the Senior Center, Adult Day Center, Community Health Representatives (CHR) program, Social Services which includes Adult and Elder Protection, Child Protection, Behavioral Health Counseling, Substance Use Counseling, and Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA)/NM Indian Family Protection Act (IFPA) program, Public Health, and Health Promotion, in a well-coordinated and collaborative manner that will enhance educational awareness, disease prevention, and healthy behavioral changes, working to improve the health and well-being of the Pueblo and all of its community members.

Senior Center – The Pueblo of Santa Ana Senior Center is a place where older persons can meet, receive services, and participate in activities that will enhance their dignity, support their independence, and encourage their involvement in and with the community.

Adult Day Center – The Adult Day Care Center provides services to eligible elders with challenges in their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including those diagnosed with neurocognitive disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia, providing respite services to family caregivers.

Family Support Services –We offer assistance to families who may be struggling or experiencing problems with making ends meet, including assistance with applications, referrals, and some emergency funding to ensure the family’s basic needs are being met.

Protective Services – We investigate allegations of child abuse or neglect, vulnerable abuse or neglectwithin the jurisdiction of the Pueblo of Santa Ana in compliance with the Pueblo of Santa Ana Vulnerable Adult Protection Code and Children’s Code. For tribal members who live outside the Pueblo boundaries, we work in conjunction with state agencies to ensure adherence to ICWA & IFPA guidelines.

Domestic Violence Services – We offer services such as advocacy, emergency shelter, assistance with all court proceedings, and counseling services for the victims of domestic violence. We investigate allegations of domestic violence within the jurisdiction of the Pueblo of Santa Ana in compliance with the Pueblo of Santa Ana Domestic Violence Code.

Community Health Representative (CHR)– The CHR is available to help monitor and care for those who suffer from minor medical issues while in the home. CHRs work with the family to ensure your loved one is receiving the care and support needed to ensure a healthy and safe life.

Substance Use/Misuse and Behavioral health – If you or someone you love is suffering from issues stemming from substance abuse or mental health, we can assist your family with support and resources to assist in the healing process.
