Employee Licensing

Casino employees will receive either a Primary or Key Gaming license or a Non-Gaming license.  Which one is issued is dependent on the casino position that you, the applicant, have applied for.  The license is required for you to be employed as a Santa Ana Star Casino employee.  Possessing and obtaining a license through the PSAGRC is a privilege, not a right and is a privilege that can be suspended and/or revoked.

All employee licenses (Primary, Key, and Non-Gaming) are valid for one (1) year from the date of issuance and thus, must be renewed annually at least sixty (60) days prior to expiration.

For example, an employee whose license is set to expire on December 31 should begin the renewal process prior to October 31.

The renewal of a license is solely the responsibility of the employee who must be mindful of the license expiration date.  Currently, there are no reminders that PSAGRC will send out regarding the expiration date of a particular employee license.

Employees who are renewing a license must disclose certain information or incidents that have occurred within the year prior to renewal. This does not relieve the employee from following established HR policies regarding criminal charges and arrests.

Information that must be disclosed is:

  • Change in Marital Status
  • Misdemeanor/Felony Arrests or Criminal Charges
  • Bankruptcy filings
  • Additional dependents
  • Change of Name

Other information may be requested at the discretion of the commission when that information could have an impact on an employee’s suitability to hold a license.

Expired Employee Licenses

If an employee’s license is expired and they are still employed, the license may be confiscated and the employee relieved of job duties.  The employee must then renew the license and submit to a drug test before being allowed to return to work.
