Position Summary:

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Youth Wellness & Recreation Manger, assist in delivery of youth health and fitness program to promote healthy lifestyles. Provides regular staffing of Kid Care Room. Provides administrative and clerical support as needed. **NOTE: job announcement will be initially open to Pueblo members for a period of five (5) working days.** This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • •Assists with various youth programming tasks, including assisting in activities and outreach to community youth including directly supervising the safety and care of the children participation in the Active Kid Care.
  • •Prepares educational aids and materials for use in presentations.
  • •Maintain program policies and procedures to ensure safety standards
  • •Perform program tracking and reporting duties
  • •Provide staffing in the Fitness Center for youth-specific and adult program times.
  • •Attend training, meetings, workshops as required
  • •Provides technical/computer support.
  • •Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • •Contributes to team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • •Assists in other Wellness program initiatives and administrative tasks as required.
  • *Clean and care for Active Kid Care area, and other facility areas as needed.
  • *Reports problems and difficulties to the Youth Wellness & Recreation Manager
  • *Maintains a positive attitude with parents, children, and co-workers at Santa Ana Pueblo Wellness Center
  • *Follows all Santa Ana and Tribal policies and procedures
  • *Attends all meetings, in-services, and trainings as required
  • *Represents the Tribe and Wellness Center in a professional manner
  • *Performs other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED with some college courses preferred. Experience working with young children and organizing activities; and interest in working with toddlers to preschool and elementary-aged children; much work well with children and parents/guardians, all required. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation including a motor vehicle check. must possess and maintain a current valid New Mexico Driver’s License and be insurable under the Pueblo's insurance.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee regularly is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and sit. The employee occasionally is required to run; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work Environment: Work may be performed in an office or a gym/fitness center setting with a moderate noise level; where employee may be exposed to unpleasant odors, hazardous material, and infectious disease. Work may also be performed outdoors where exposure to natural weather conditions and various dusts may occur while performing physical activities. Work environment may include exposure to life and death situations. Situations where protective gloves and/or protective face shields are needed may occur. Evening and or weekend work is required. There is frequent interaction with program participants and Pueblo of Santa Ana staff members.
