Position Summary:

The PBS Handyman, under the direction of the PBS Foreman, is responsible for providing minor to intermediate level repairs on multi-family and single-family buildings while providing excellent service and quality workmanship to residents of the Tamaya community. **Note: job announcement will initially be opened to Pueblo members for a period of five(5) working days.** This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • •Maintains buildings by performing routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring and other related maintenance activities as needed using hand or power tools.
  • •Installs fixtures, appliances, tiles, windows, doors, cabinetry, and electrical components according to manufacturer specifications and Pueblo ordinances.
  • •Ensures maintenance equipment, tools, vehicles, and materials are clean, safe and in working order.
  • •Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • •Ensures all work areas are clean and organized, sweeping and mopping if necessary; notify homeowners of any safety issues while work is not being performed.
  • •Schedules and reviews work orders as needed.
  • •Notifies the PBS Foreman concerning needs of major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, ventilating and equipment.
  • •Maintains logs and records of work performed and materials and equipment used.
  • •Assists HVAC Maintenance with the replacement of motors and other mechanical parts; replaces air-conditioning and furnace filters as needed.
  • •Inventories and requests equipment and supplies as needed.
  • •Provides excellent customer service.
  • •Assists other maintenance personnel or vendors as directed.
  • •Contributes to a team effort.
  • •Must be able to read and follow directions in regards to assigned projects.
  • •Adheres to Santa Ana Pueblo’s Policies and Procedures.
  • •Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Must have 3 years construction experience with *knowledge and ability to service and maintain HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems (must have). Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including a motor vehicle check. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable under the Pueblo’s insurance.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee occasionally is required to sit. Considerable physical activity; heavy physical work; heavy moving, lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds is a primary part of the job. Use two person lift when lifting more than 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an indoor and outdoor setting where exposure to unpleasant odors, dust, dirt, fumes, and chemicals may occur. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which may require wearing safety-toe shoes, safety goggles, gloves or protective face shields.
